Educational Play Productions
Educational Play Productions presents original plays written by resident award winning playwrights that addresses contemporary issues facing today’s inner city youth, emphasizing decision-making, choices and consequences. All plays for the elementary schools are 30 minutes plus a 15 minute post-show discussion.
All plays for the middle / high schools are 35 minutes plus a short post-show discussion. The plays are performed without a set making it possible to be performed virtually anywhere in a school setting.

1. THE DOG ATE MY HOMEWORK (elementary school)
This play teaches good study habits through the life of a young boy, Louis, who’d rather watch TV or play with his playstation, than study. He falls asleep and has a nightmare, in which he’s gotten left back so many times he’s in a third grade class with his granddaughter. Throughout the play he learns the study skills he needs to be a good student and pass to the fourth grade. 

2. THE BULLY PLAY: REPORTING IS NOT SNITCHING (elementary school)
“Reporting is not Snitching” is an interactive play that deals with the very pervasive problem of bullying. A young boy, Alex, is suffering a great deal because a bully is bothering him at school. Throughout the play he learns strategies to deal with the bully. Strategies for teachers and parents are also included in the play.

3. CAN’T TAKE IT ANYMORE (middle / high school)
(*this play is a more mature story about bullying*)
Based on real life stories, “Can’t take it Anymore” explores the pervasive world of bullying, including cyber bullying, in the teenaged community. This play explores how the young man being bullied, his friend, the bully and the silent observer, deal with and ultimately take responsibility for their part in the cruel act of bullying. 

4. MOMMA’S BOYZ (middle / high school) 
Three friends from the inner city make a questionable decision to sell drugs, subsequently leading them into a world of violence. The outcome is tragic, but a magical force intervenes giving them a second chance to revisit that decision.

5. DETENTION (middle / high school)
Three teenaged girls get sent to detention. Throughout the play they provoke, confront and reveal their personal issues such as self-esteem, fear and dealing with an abusive relationship. By the end of the play, they make choices to get their lives back on track and out of detention.

6. WAIT A MINUTE (middle / high school)
“Wait a Minute” is a very funny and true-to-life take on teenaged parenthood. Into the world of Ruben and Teresa, a very demanding baby magically enters, and throws their well-constructed teenaged lives into chaos. The play examines the consequences of questionable choices.

7. GANGBANGER’S REGRET (middle / high school) ***COMING SOON***
A gangbanger has to choose between seeking revenge for the killing of his friend or to take care of his baby. One choice leads to life, the other to death.

7. GANGBANGER'S REGRET - Dashawn wants to get revenge after his best friend a member of his posse was killed. His baby's mother is telling him that he has a baby to take care now. Dashawn has to make a choice between his baby or revenge.

4. MOMMA'S BOYZ - Mimic and Shine try to convince Thug (c) into giving up his dreams of becoming a drug dealer and replacing it with the dream of owning a sneaker store.
